Thanks for everything you do.
Now every member that had a negative comment towards IV today after noon should be ashamed. There were some harsh criticisms. I've been a member of IV well before the fiasco and have joined the flower campaign and have not one negative thing to say about IV. Excellent job IV (including all supportive members). You rock.

the law is not an end in itself... it's a means to achieving end.... and hence it can be challenged in the courts...
final point... let us walk through the situation... per quota country limits is removed... now everyone applying for the employment based visa has to wait for 5 years.... so every country immigrant & the country politicians will pressure the US govt. to act... and only then politicians would act!
case in hand: Labor Certifications... Before PERM it took upto 3 years for the labor to be certified and it affected everyone irrespective of the country... So the PERM was introduced.
AC-21 ... before AC-21 everyone was getting affected and hence the AC-21 law..
One may argue otherwise... but the reality is it matters especially if everyone is getting affected... However, we try... the family based visa won't go away... it affects everyone! No surprise that the latin american senators would NOT allow any legal immigration efforts to succeed without their cause being taken as well.
The only way a thing will get done is if we have a mass problem... and if there isn't then as a tactic it is necessary to create one so that the whole problem could be solved. Otherwise everything will be lost in statistics like
1> Only 2% of countries are getting affected.
2> Only IT/electrical/software are getting affected.
3> Out of the affected people only 5% are leaving, overall only 2% are leaving.
4> etc. etc.
Please note the above numbers are my guestimates.. but I hope you got the point. I am ready to bet the day per country cap is removed... within a year something would be done about the whole EB immigration.
The human psychology is to be risk averse that is if something does not affect me then why should I bother myself with it? In other words, unless many people do not get affected, there won't be reform/change/resolution!

It is similar to all the high school passed candidates will get admission to college if seats are available but not based on marks but based on FIFO basis.

Also they are not giving any one country preference or quota. So it is not outrageous compared to many other controversial laws. I wrote a letter to the university chancellor where I graduated from and urged him to use his power to influence lawmakers to pass STEM -or similar -bills or face the consequences in the form of dwindling enrollment of brilliant students. I used strong but not so harsh words. Refer to the following thread.

My state chapter leader was also excited about this idea. I posted the letter and the chancellor's response on this forum only to motivate someone 'higher up' to read it, endorse it and make it an action item for everybody (with a US degree). I feel now that I did my part as a dedicated member but the IV leaders (those who have the authority in IV circle) failed to lead my initiative or take it to a higher level (may be I am not able to find better words here).
Usually discussions get buried in forums. People open all sorts of threads and discuss - which is fine, but when some real effort is going on - I recommend the person who is behind it to own the effort. Thats what IV is - everyone MUST own the effort from start to finish and not give up or pass it on.
It is difficult for people to spend the time and effort in a thankless job. And we all need a lot of motivation and courage to do things. We are all professionals and currently dealing with politics and bureaucracy - must understand how difficult it is.
Below is for all readers
I just read the messages from Aman and Pappu - their tone is understandable - they are definitely stressed because they have to deal with all this. Am sure they are definitely looking for committed individuals who can help them and who can be trusted. There must be more than 100% commitment to do what they are doing.
Is it possible for everyone to commit themselves at that level?
If not can people do the following at the least?
(1) Provide correct information
(2) Contribute monetarily
(3) Join State chapter
(4) balance their schedules and create some time for IV and do at least something
(5) Stop crap talk and blame games and concentrate only on useful stuff
(6) Contribute in any other way - publicity, convincing friends, coming up with innovative ideas .....
(7) Channelize all your frustration into positive energy.
Based on commitment, availability, skill, trust IV can definitely utilize your help in different levels, maybe ann admin, maybe a chapter lleader, maybe a chapter member , maybe a media coordinator ...... Do you have that in you? Are you willing to do it??

I became an IV memeber few days back during May 2007 and actually became active sometime around June 10th 2007. Within this short timeframe - IV core and its great (mostly :)) members have given me so much knowledge, confidence that i filed my 485 on my own during July 2nd - I just cant believe that i did that !!!
Now its July 17th its the same IV who made USCIS accept all those hard earned documents .... Yes - I'm that guy who was forced to sign a $10,000 bond for getting Future employment letter.
"No bond, no employment letter - show me what you got" - I was thrown this challenge straight on the face. Now once i get EAD its my turn to show them what i got.

This years master's quota is probably filled. They received 200,000 files for 65,000 regular plus 20,000 masters quota available.
So I would not be surprised it its already over.
The reason is that last year, the 20,000 master quota was over in nearly 3-4 months and many students on F1 and OPT missed the train last year. This year, those students are also in queue and in addition, the new students graduating this summer are also trying to get in.
The situation will get worse each year as previous year's students try to catch up the following year.
I would suggest you make arrangements to keep your status alive between May and Oct in 2008. Or find a job that is exempt from H1 quota. All the jobs that are in Universities, non-profit organization etc are not subject to quota. That is one way to do it. The other way to do it is to apply for Ph.D (I know, its not a joke to do that) and get an admission in there to continue your F1.

My friend, Who said its not a problem? in my earlier post I have provided a big laundry list of Line cutting measures in place are these not problems? BUT the point is , is it worth it a fight ? Subs is long gone, We are fighting for Country quota from a year + atleast and we are still at square one and the problems keep worsens. We all worry about subs where there is no action. Good one, Change to workflow should not be an issue, but we should have IV core support and reasonable to pool of money (not peanuts) to make this a success. I would recommend to run a funding drive, specially for this effort once IV core endorses this effort. In day to day life, Everything begins with $, you get what you pay for and nothing is free.

Oh man. I had to burst out laughing on your post imagining how that cop would endure if given such a punishment. But pity that lady how much ever crime she might have committed earlier. Still pregnancy and delivery is a re-birth for ladies.
There are times when you enforce law as a cop. But not all the times. Wish there was some humanity shown by this person. Acts like these are like a drop of ink in a glass of water. These bad cops taint the entire department.
Disgusting, Sheriff Joe is monster. Perhaps he came from family with no respect for women.
On the lighter note, if I were a judge, here's what I would do with Sheriff Joe if he was trailed:
1. Perform sex change operation on Sheriff Joe and install a womb.
2. Perform artificial insemination on Sheriff Joe using the seed of big man like Undertaker, Shaq or Khali (so that offspring is a big baby).
3. On term, shackles Sheriff Joe and make him go through the pain of giving birth. In the process don't administer epidural or perform C-Section.
4. Don't repair any damage done to his body parts after delivery.

You are right.....even if EB2 PD becomes current and it takes 3 years for TSC dates to move forward to our ND dates....we are not going to have approval before then. So my earlier logic that being current on the basis of PD is meaningless unless you have ND which is current.
You rightly said that there are thousands of applicants with ND prior to you and they will be handled prior to your case............unfortunate but that is true.....and ofcourse preadjudication is a myth as usual...
