You guys are not getting it. No (in like None, Nada, zilch etc.) insurance covers pre-existing condition for visitors. If a complication arises, and you had to use the insurance, the question will be if it is a pre-existing condition or something that came up after coming here. Even if the condition comes up where an incident is not related to pre-existing condition but aggravated due to pre-existing condition, insurance will cover minimal claim amount. The odds are rigged up against you no matter what. Put yourself in the insurance companies shoes. The less you pay the more you make so you always try to deny the claim.
Saying this, you are betteroff buying a American Insurance as hospitals over here see it as something they can count on for being paid back (though law says they have to give the topmost care irrespective of the patients ability to repay). Indian insurance is useless and will be looked down by medical personnel (some of the private pracitioners won't even accept it). Just buy some American Insurance and pray you don't have to use it.

Yes, our success has created these issues for us. We are sincere, talented, educated, skilled and experienced. In my view, three things perpetuate this:
- this republican regime, the way its runs government (hence throw the bums out)
- lack of interest in our issues by our predecessors who have GC in their hand, our community leaders
- general introvert nature of Asians(aloof, not interested, not outgoing, not mixing, not greeting etc)

That includes renewed visas, which don't count against the annual cap. These dramatic exaggerations distort the reality and provide a falsified alarmist view of the situation; which works against the interests of Immigrants ,businesses and American economy.
In the interests of fairness, you should also air the counter-views while providing coverage to such strong one-sided views. This would provide a balanced coverage to your viewers.

bringing bk the discussion to more serious point. We can all agree that on the surface immigration system here is seems unfair towards Indian, Chinese and Mexicans. Whats the reason behind it? why only three countries which suffers from long waits. Its demand and supply. If there were no country caps, all the visa's will be absorbed by these three countries. Even though it has cost me time and money, i think its the right policy. for a moment imagine there was no country limit, can you imagine for few years to come immigration will be from only these three countries. i think its only fair to limit how many people can come from one specific country.
and one more point, we are never going to get treated with respect and equality, just get used to it. every American knows we left our country to come to his. he is always gonna look down upon us. Immigrants are never treated with love, respect and dignity, no matter which country they go to. Case in point, Bangladeshi and Nepali migrant workers in India. Yes, that is my understanding at this point based on the language . As soon as the bill goes into effect, you will need to stop working at the client site if the bill passes in its current form AND you are working as a FT employee (w-2) of a mere placement company (aka agent or desi consulting). If you are an FT employee of big consulting company then until they get waiver for you AND your current client proves that no layoffs were done at the client site in the last 180 days, you will need to stop working.
I read the text again, and found that text is under 'Sub Title A - H1B Application Requirement', does that mean the new application has to meet the requirement but existing H1B holders are allowed to work until the end of their I-94 date? It would create a turmoil to stop all H1B contractor all in a sudden.
Anyway, let's hope the professional analysis from Pappu and attorney come out early

I urge all to read "The story of my experiments with truth" by Mahatma Gandhi (if you haven't already). While in a prison in South africa.. he spent his time in jail making a leather shoe for the white supremacist who put him in jail. This is the prime example of loving the person but fighting the ideas he stands for. This was also depicted in the move-- "Gandhi my father"

Based on your case, if they ask us the documents after 16 odd days.. I would say I am doomed. My employer( Not consulting company) might create problems.

can the H4 not apply for a new H1B? Is H4 barred from applying for H1B? If not, I don't see where the prob lies. plus how will this solve the retrogression issue?
Not all professions can apply for H1Bs. You need to have specific skills that the US does NOT have. Someone on here had once posted that his wife could not work as a teacher although the school was ready to offer her a job, coz there is no H1B category for teachers. The H1B visa cannot help spouses in all professions. Hence my suggestion.

I don't know what this petition is going to do. Atleast it will convey to CNN top brass that there are people out there who won't tolerate such lies. Maybe it won't do anything now but we must continue our efforts and oppose such false propagation of information whenever we can.
